Beneficiaries for St Luke's Charity Cycle 2013 powered by Equinix
St Luke’s Hospital (SLH) is a 185-bed Christian community hospital,
providing medical, nursing and rehabilitative services. Every year, the
hospital provides quality service and compassionate care to over 1,900 elderly
inpatients, regardless of race and religion. More than 90% of our patients are
highly subsidised. Our outpatient clinics, day rehabilitation services and home
care services are also popular with the community and have registered 20,000
attendance a year. To serve more patients, the hospital is expanding with the
building of a new wing to add 48 beds and a bigger, better-equipped inpatient
gym, day rehabilitation centre and outpatient clinic. St Luke’s Hospital still
needs to raise over $4 million this year in order to meet our operating
deficit.
St Luke’s Eldercare (SLEC) runs 12 eldercare centres across Singapore to serve the elderly in Ayer
Rajah, Bukit Timah, Clementi, Hougang, Hougang Central, Jurong East, Serangoon,
Tampines, Telok Blangah, Whampoa, Yishun and Changkat. These centres provide services in social day care to care for frail and lonely elderly, rehabilitation services to help those elderly recovering from stroke and wellness programme to promote active aging for more
than 1,200 elderly. As SLEC continues to expand to serve the increasing aging population in the community, there is an immediate call to raise another $520,000 to equip the centres with new vans retrofitted with wheelchair lifters to transfer the elderly. In addition, with 90% of our elderly being heavily
subsidised by us, SLEC will need to raise more than $1.5 million every year to
cover its operating deficits.
