Q1. When will St Luke's Charity Cycle (SLCC) 2013 powered by Equinix be held?


The event will be held from Saturday to Sunday (14 - 15 September 2013)

Q2. What is the route?

i) Day 1 - Sekupang Ferry Terminal to Nongsa to Harris Waterfront Resort
ii) Day 2 - Harris Waterfront Resort through Barelang bridge and back to Harris Waterfront Resort

Total cycling distance: 250km

Q3. Who can participate in SLCC?

SLCC is a non-competitive event. It is meant for experienced cyclists who are familiar with hilly terrains and long distance cycling. They should be comfortable riding in a peloton at an average speed of 25kmh and above. Cyclists are responsible for ensuring that they are medically and physical certified to be able to cycle.
In the interest of personal and group safety, on Day 1 of the ride, there will be four pelotons with different rolling speeds:
i) Group 1:  40 Kmh
ii) Group 2:  35 Kmh
iii) Group 3:  30 Kmh
ix) Group 4:  25 Kmh
 
Q4. How do I participate in SLCC?

i) Complete and submit the ONLINE REGISTRATION FORM
ii) Upon successful registration, create and personalised your own fundraising page: http://bit.ly/13bMjhu
iii) To secure a riding slot, each cyclist must fulfill the minimum donation of SGD 1,600. 
Registration will only be deemed as confirmed upon submission of the full minimum amount by 31 July 2013 (Wednesday)

Q5. Do I have to wear a helmet?

Yes! Helmets are strictly mandatory for all the cyclists. No helmet, no ride.

Q6. What types of bikes are allowed? 

Road bikes, MTB and Mini-Velos are allowed for the ride. Recumbent bikes will only be allowed should there be sufficient support for the cyclist (The recumbent cyclist has to satisfy the organising committee that sufficient safety and support has been provided.  Please discuss with the organising committee on your final arrangements).  

Q7. How do I know my jersey size and do I allow for an exchange?

We have engaged F2P as our official cyclewear. Their jersey uses European sizing (which is generally smaller than American or Australian sizing) and all measurements are in CM (centimeters). The size chart is shown as below:

We are unable to exchange sizes as the jerseys are produced according to the size you chose when you registered, and there are no spares produced.

Q8. How many people participate?

We are targeting 80 cyclists for this inaugural fundraising cycling event and reserve the right to limit or refuse entries without explanation.

Q9. What are the ways to raise funds and secure my riding slot in SLCC?

You can raise funds via the following ways:
i) Online donation portal - using your own fundraising page via  http://bit.ly/13bMjhu (GIVE Asia) and encourage your friends, family members, acquaintances and colleagues etc. to donate online and support your ride!
ii)  Offline (Credit Card / Cheque) donation - Download, print and complete the attached form (click here). Mail your completed form with a crossed cheque made payable to 'St Luke's Hospital' with Rider's name written at the back.

iii) Offline (Cash) donation - Download, print and complete the attached form (click here).Cash donation to be made in person at St Luke's Hospital during office hours (Mondays to Fridays, 9am to 12pm or 2pm to 5pm).  

All donations are appreciated and will go directly to St Luke's Hospital and St Luke's ElderCare.

Q10. What's included in my minimum $1,600 donation?

- 2-way ferry transport (Singapore to Batam and vice versa)
- 1 night accommodation at Harris Resort Waterfront (2 participants per room)*
- 1 x buffet breakfast at Harris Cafe
- 2 x buffet lunches at resort on Day 1 & Day 2
- 1 x  Poolside BBQ dinner on Day 1; subject to weather conditions
- 2 pieces of event's jersey
- Insurance (Group Personal Accident Policy & Public Liability Policy)
- Mechanics & medical support

Note
Hotel rooms at Harris Waterfront Resort provide 220/AC in their rooms to accommodate your electronics. 

Free internet access is available at the resort. Internet roaming is available from your local telco and is not covered by SLCC.

Rooming is based on double occupancy.  We will try to place you with other cyclist of the same gender.  If you must have your own room you may do so by paying a top up fee.  Please contact Ms Isabel Ng at isabelng@slh.org.sg or 6895 3284. 

Q11. What are the logistics support provided?

We will provide 3 support vehicles (with drinks storage), 1 lorry and mini bus for back-up / sweeper, 3 police escorts, 2 bike mechanic assistance, medical and ambulance assistance.

However, we strongly encourage cyclists to bring their own bike equipment (e.g. spare tubes), extra energy food (if needed) and some amount of Indonesia Rupiah.

Q12. How do I get my tax-deductible receipt?

Tax-deductible receipt will only be given to those who donated SGD 50 and above. If you require a tax-deductible receipt, please provide your full name / company name, NRIC / FIN / UEN no. and mailing address when you make your donation. Tax-deductible receipt will be sent 2 months after completion of SLCC.

We will liaise with Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) to auto include the donation made in the donor’s tax assessment for the Year 2013. The donor is entitled to 2.5 times tax deductible.

Q13.  How do I know if I'm a confirmed cyclist?

A confirmation / notification email will be sent to individual confirmed cyclist nearer to the date of event.

Q14. Will there be training sessions conducted?

We are currently looking for volunteers who can help in conducting the training rides prior to the event. For those who are interested to volunteer, please contact Ms Isabel Ng at isabelng@slh.org.sg or 6895 3284. 

Q15. Will the event still continue during bad weather?

In the event of inclement weather, cyclists may choose to take shelter, get on the support vehicle or continue cycling. If the bad weather persists, we as the organiser, reserves the right to amend the schedule or cancel the event without any refund. However, the donations collected will still be directed to St Luke's Hospital and St Luke's ElderCare. The 2.5 times tax deductible entitlement will still be honoured.  

Q16. What is the Visa policy of Indonesia?


In accordance with the Regulation of Minister of Law and Human Right of the Republic of Indonesia Number: M.HH-01.GR.01.06, on January 12, 2010, citizen from 63 countries and 1 region are eligible for obtaining Visa on Arrival (VOA).

This visa can be obtained directly when you are landed at the certain airports and seaport in Indonesia regardless of the purpose of your visits (Business, Tourist, Social). The Visa on Arrival is not a work visa nor a visitation visa. Therefore, it can not be converted to obtain other immigration permits. The maximum stays permitted for the visa on arrival is 30 days. If you plan to stay longer than 30 days, you need to mention your intention to stay longer. Visa on Arrival can be extended for another 30 days.

The general requirements for Visa On Arrival are:
  • Expiration date of the applicant's passport must be at least 6 (six) months at the date of entry.
  • Round-trip airplane ticket
  • Fees
The fees for Visa On Arrival are:
  • Visa for stay up to 30 (thirty) days = US$ 25,-
  • Extention of stay for up to 30 (thirty) days = US$ 25,-

Q17. What happens if I withdraw / cancel my participation in SLCC? 

In the event of a withdrawal / cancellation of participation, donations received will still be channelled towards St Luke’s Hospital and St Luke’s ElderCare. The 2.5 times tax deductible will still be honoured.

Q18. What happens if there is a "no-show" in SLCC?

In the event of a “no-show”, participants can opt to give their places to another cyclist subject to the approval of the organising committee.  It may not be possible for the organiser to provide jerseys and is subject to availability.

Q19. What if due to unforeseen circumstances and SLCC was forced to be cancelled?

If there is any unexpected turn of events (e.g. flood, haze, riot etc), the Organizer reserves the right to cancel the event at any time. 

Based on the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) guidelines, if the Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) reading reaches above 150, we will have to cancel events held in outdoor venue.
    
However, all donations received will still be directed to the St Luke’s Hospital and St Luke’s ElderCare. The 2.5 times tax exemption entitlement will still be honored. The Organizer shall not be liable for any consequential loss or inconvenience caused.

Q20. Will there be a briefing?

A briefing will be organised nearer to the actual day of the event. Details will be sent via email.
